Since January I have had the pleasure of teaching 20 bright eyed, highly-motivated, self-starting individuals about business planning.
The Bizstart program is designed to offer participants guidance and support through the process of developing a comprehensive business plan and generating financing. Each year 20 young entrepreneurs with a great idea for a new business are accepted into the program. Ideas in this year’s group include specialty stationery, custom clothing, videography, online advertising, innovative therapeutic services, photography and theatrical entertainment.
I find it fascinating that these young entrepreneurs, all of whom are under 30 years of age but most of whom are in their early 20’s, relate so deeply to my own story of starting my consulting business just 2 years ago.
The Bizstart program is offered by Youth Employment Services YES, an award-winning business sponsored by HRDC (Human Resource Development Canada). If you know of any young entrepreneurs under the age of 30 I would highly recommend putting them in touch with this organization.
